criteria 4 blog...

I have done my self-assessment and I feel I should get 18 out of 20. here are my reasons, in term of originality, everything in there are 100% my own writing, no cut and paste… i think blog is all about expressing our thought, view using our own words and not simply taking from others. Then, I wrote without fear and as honest I can be on certain things, I don’t want this to be an academic writing. Yup!! This is an assignment but surely prof. doesn’t want a long essay. I wrote whatever I think and the blog is the result. However, I don’t think that design should be taken as one of the criteria because if I feel blog is about the writing not a competition to find who have the most beautiful design… so, it must be assessing based on the content of the blog, nothing else matter…. That my view…

wiki??? or wacky???

yup!! it is a wacky thing... i am just going to express my feeling on wiki!! i hate it!! it just like a beta version, but who care... we must learn to use it... is this tool really will enhance learning?? honestly, i am not planning to use it in the future... yup! we have seen excellant website like wikipedia that use this wiki thing and it is great... i admit it it is agreat things when you know how to use it but i still can comprehend the concept of wiki... it is like a portal where we will add information and other people can edit it freely... it sound weird because we cant control the content, nway, that enough for wiki...

erm.. our group progress on the wiki assignment has been really slow... we dont have the initiative to do it.. maybe because lack of direction, dont know what and how we going to approach it... we have a lot of infromation but it is a different thing to digest analyze it... i wilerl do my best,, this is surely a new method... arghhh... looking at the monitor almost 24/7!!! the next two weeks will be the most gruelling time for us.. hope i will survive.....

should curricullum drive the technology or vice-versa??

This is an interesting question…. My answer would be technology should drive the curriculum. Why? Because I feel we must have a curriculum that will fully utilize the use of technology in classroom. We can discover new technology that can allow us to improve the environment in school. The government is training our teacher to become tech-savvy. However, are they really benefiting from the training?? I don’t thing so!! This happen because I feel our curriculum doesn’t give room for teacher to adopt technology to the maximum level. Do we need curriculum that is tailored specifically that allow teacher to create a technologically-advanced learning. For instance is the smartboard, we can use it efficiently in classroom because obviously in my view it is an excellent tool albeit the cost is high. During my school experience programme, I went to an urban school situated in the middle of city. The school have an excellent computer lab with broadband connection, however, teachers there told me that it is seldom used because they afraid that students might ‘destroy’ the computers!! How we can inculcate the use of technology in students if we do not allow them to experience the benefit of using computer? Once again, the equipment is there but there is weakness in the implementation process… so, I feel MOE or curriculum board must bear in mind technology when they are going to draft a new curriculum….

intelligence vs creativity

Ok… I feel intelligence and creativity are two different things…. If you are creative of course you are intelligence. However if you have high IQ it doesn’t mean that you have high creativity… I think I am intelligence but I doubt I have creativity… I am the kind of person that thinks inside the box, doing things as majority of use do and will not come out with radical idea or things that will excite people… I am not a conservative guy but I admit that I lack of creativity. Can we learn to be creative or improve our creativity?? Or is it some people are creative than other.. Is it an innate characteristic?? All of us are creative. The difference is the degree of our creativity. How far we are willing to explore or think... is there a way to improve my creativity?? If anyone can help me improve my creativity, reward is waiting for you…

pedagogy of engagement...

There are a lot of theories of learning or many more pedagogy…. Here I was introduced to a “new” pedagogy… Pedagogy of engagement integrating technology…. Or POEIT!! It sounds bad. What I understand is that we use technology to engage the students, keep them involve in learning. How to keep students engage in learning?? Make learning meaningful? Interesting? Or a variety of method? Surely technology can be use to make learning more interactive and teacher will have opportunity to utilize it for students benefit…. I feel students especially young kids will always awe whenever teacher show things that they are not familiar with and participate in learning. I found that the strategy use in the pedagogy is interesting….because everything is done to ensure students are engage in their own learning. Of course it is very difficult and it is a challenge for teacher to keep students attention for the whole time but if teacher can fully understand this pedagogy of course they can be used in classroom. Anyway, good luck for this new pedagogy, hope it is applicable in school because real world surely different form the theories….

FISH PHILOPSOPHY??

THIS was the first time I heard about fish philosophy.... fish have philosophy??? Sound funny, erm.....after a bit of research on internet, I can comprehend what it is all about...
It was good that we can learn from people at a fish market.... fish philosophy emphasize on the importance of having fun at work…when we doing work that we don’t like, how can we be productive? When the environment, people around us is negative towards us, how we can have fun? I know some people that hate their job, every single day at work they suffered and this caused stress and a lot of tension. If you are having fun at work, it will make you appreciate your work… we will not see our work as a burden but as a responsibility that we must be as best we can be…. When we are having fun at work, it doesn’t mean that we take our work for granted it just that we enjoy doing it. It will make our work efficient and effective. Fish philosophy also stated that we must make a difference. We must make other people happy, spread our happiness…. We never know how important we are to others and a simple “hello” can change a person life!! Believe me, I experienced it myself, when we smile it will make a difference because others will not see us as arrogant and a smile will change their perception. So, don’t be selfish, be good to others as we want other people to treat us. We also must have love. Show your love!! Never thing that people can understand your feeling, you must tell them. When you give love, you will get it back. Lastly, attitude will change your life. How you view this world. Are you an optimist or pessimist.? I was an pessimist guy that thing there nothing good in this world, as I get older it my perception on life change drastically, maybe because coming of age I try to live a life as best as I can, there was a guy that have a catchphrase “get a life”. I think everyone have their own lifestyle. We can’t do a lot to change others but we surely can change our attitude, for a better life…. Whatever philosophy we use, everyone want to be a better person we must strive to be the best!! May Allah bless me... AMIN

Technology can support a vision but technology cannot be the vision...

yup!! I am totally agreed with the statement.... How can technology be the vision? We must utilize technology to accomplish our vision. for instance, our government have spend a lot of money to equip our school with the latest technology available,, however that doesn’t mean that by having all this new technology make the vision to create a world-class education a reality.. It us, the people that must ensure technology being uses to achieve our reality. The infrastructure itself will not mean that the vision has been achieved. Technology wills kick-start our vision as it will give advantages over other people. So, technology can be a catalyst to realize our vision. In my opinion, the students are the vision for our country. There are the vision of every parents and teachers that want them to be successful. The technology is a boon for students as the learning process can be exciting and increase their motivation. However, our government must be fair in allocating the resources for schools because there will always be tendency to give more money to the favor school. We must be diligent if we want our vision a.k.a students to get the most return out of technology.

digital citizen vs digital immigrant

i think most of us are digital immigrant... but i like to consider myself as digital citizen!! why? because i feel i deserve it... most of us have to be digital immigrant because they were force to accept changes in their life. they have to make changes in their life or risk being left behind in this "digital world" where people move at the speed of sound.... and our life is decided by a click of mouse button... whether we like it or not, we need to be a digital immigrant if we want to compete in this new era where people who is well-versed with digital technology will move forward and left others.... for digital citizen, this are the people that have been exposed to technology since they were young and they mastered it or far better than digital immigrant that need help from digital citizen. so,, it doesnt matter if we are not digital citizen as long we are willing to learn and work hard to acquire knowledge. life depend in our hand and we must not blame others for our lack of progress because of our laziness or frustrated with your learning...

Smartboard Materials

Wow! Wow! Last week class was very interesting! Our lecturer shows us samples of materials that is created using smartboard notebook and I was very excited when I saw what we can do using smartboard. Surely, learning would never be the same again with smartboard. We can forget about the dull “dumb board” a.k.a blackboard! The smartboard notebook is indeed interesting software. However, we must be creative and imaginative to create materials that are effective in the classroom. We must not create materials just for the sake of using smart board. Having said that, I think it is quite difficult to use the smart board because we need to be ‘soft’ and ‘gentle’ to handle it. Being a strong and tough man it was hard to put my finger on the board and gently push it up or down. Maybe I need a bit of training to get use to it. For me, the pupils will surely benefit the most if smart board is use in school because the materials is very amazing, pupils will never be bore in school. I just hope that by the time I graduated, our government will supply smart board to all school. Maybe it is just a dream….

smartboard

Smartboard? I never see this thing before so I was very excited to learn and use this so-called ‘Smartboard”. I wonder whether it is really “smart” as claimed. However, my perception was altered when I saw our trainer demonstrate how to use the smartboard and I was impressed. I think if kids in primary school see this thing there will surely be excited and eager to use the smartboard. Even I an adult was very enthusiastic to use the smartboard. I feel it is an interesting tool for teacher to help them improve their teaching. However, teacher must know how to exploit the smartboard to ensure that teacher and pupils will benefit from this board. Smartboard will affect my work as a teacher if I learn how to utilize it. Firstly, we no longer need to use the dusty blackboard that is very inconvenience to use and face shortage of chalk anymore. It will make my work easier and more comfortable learning environment. Smartboard will definitely make teaching interactive and engaging to the pupils. This will surely increase pupil’s motivation and without doubt make them want to participate in the classroom. Teacher will not have problem to create fascinating material that will raise pupil’s interest because smartboard provide the tools for teacher to be creative and imaginative. Personally, I have bad handwriting so smartboard will help me to overcome this problem because when I write on the board I can transform it into a nice writing. That is surely pleasing news for me. People always talk about integration of technology into education and smartboard is an excellent tool that would infuse technology into our education system.
However, I wonder how many of this smartboard will be available in our school? Because the cost to acquire smartboard is enormous and surely it is a ‘future’ technology when the cost is lower and affordable for our government. It is not practical for school in Malaysia to adopt this new technology.

SMARTBOARD?

is it practical to use smartboard now? or is it for future when the cost may go down becasue one of the reason we cant use technology because of the cost to acquire the hardware and another reason is most of us just dont like learning new things.... the question is are we willing to learn this quite complicated 'things'... even for a tech-savvy guy like me i found that it is quite hard to fully understand this new things. to ensure that i can use smartboard there must be a lot of opportunity for me to use it... however, the chance to use it is minimal because we have large class.... so, maybe in the next few weeks i will be able to use the smartboard effectively...

How technology change the way we work?

Of course technology change the way we work but it depend whether we are immersed in the technology and willing to embrace it. If we are afraid to use technology then how we want to change our life. For instance, the we communicate with each other, in the old days we have to use public phones and it was very troublesome because public phone is always vandalized. Nowadays, most of us use mobile phone. Then, we have computer.... It is like a magic box because we can do almost everything. When we type our assignment we don't have to worry about making spelling mistake because the program will automatically our spelling. So, technology make it easier for us to do our work. However, some people think that technology make us lazy because we have things like remote control or air-conditioner. For me, technology have help me to work effectively and efficiently. We can surf internet for information with just a click a button and mountain of information is ready. We must utilized technology and know how to 'manipulate' it for our own benefit. so, in my opinion, technology chnage the way we work in many ways.

life is funny... when it seem everything is going according to plan, then something bad will happen! why?? but my life have been "weird", i dunt know what people want.. im not a people-person juz a different kind of guy that luv watching football and girlzzz... hehe... why blog? will anyone read my blog? or will it be wasted! nonsense!!
